ORIGINAL | Authorities say a pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in the west valley Thursday morning.

The crash was reported around 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at S. Decatur Boulevard and Alta Drive, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

According to a statement from LVMPD's Fatal Detail, police learned the pedestrian, identified only as an unknown woman, was crossing Decatur when she was struck by a 1995 Ford Explorer.

Witness statements indicate the Ford had a green light, and the pedestrian was crossing against a "Don't Walk" signal.

The pedestrian was taken to UMC, where she died from her injuries. The driver of the Ford stayed at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, LVMPD said.

The death was the 12th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD jurisdiction this year.
