The Culinary Union says it has a new three-year contract with the Palms Casino Resort, covering about 900 employees at the property.

The agreement includes standard union language on worker security, safety buttons, sexual harassment and workload, among other protections, according to a spokesperson for Culinary.

About 95% of workers voted to accept the contract Tuesday, the union says. It's the union's first contract signed with the Palms since the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians purchased the casino-resort.

Workers at the Palms previously voted to unionize in 2018, back when Station Casinos owned the resort. The Palms then closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was sold in 2021 to San Manuel, which reopened the property in April last year.

"We celebrate this historic agreement with Palms, which protects workers with the best health care in Nevada, strong job security, and fair wage increases," Ted Pappageorge, secretary-treasurer for the Culinary Union, said in a statement.

A previous agreement had been reached in February last year to provide health fund benefits, job security and seniority recognition to eligible workers.
