1 dead, 1 critically injured after crash near Owens, Pecos in North Las Vegas

UPDATE, May 25 | The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the victim killed in the crash as 29-year-old Felipe Venegas of North Las Vegas.

The exact cause and manner of death are still pending, according to the coroner's office.

ORIGINAL | Police officers are responding to a deadly crash in North Las Vegas Thursday morning, according to police.

At least two vehicles appeared to be involved in a crash on Tonopah Avenue, near Pecos Road and Owens Avenue.

North Las Vegas Police say one person has died, and another has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. No one else was injured in the crash.

The preliminary investigation suggests a silver Honda sedan was traveling eastbound on Tonopah Avenue when it struck a pickup truck, which was parked and unoccupied.

The North Las Vegas Fatal Crash Team is still investigating the accident but have stated speed was a major factor in this crash.

The Coroner's Office will release the identification, and cause and manner of death, after proper notification of next of kin.
