UPDATE, Nov. 6 | The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed as 19-year-old Roberto Santiago of Las Vegas.

ORIGINAL | A man has died after a two-car crash Monday morning on U.S. 95 in the west valley.

The crash was reported on the southbound side of the highway south of Lake Mead Boulevard, just after 8:20 a.m., according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

Trooper Travis Smaka said investigators believe a silver Honda Civic hatchback drove onto U.S. 95 from Lake Mead and drove across all the travel lanes to get to the fast lane without yielding to oncoming traffic.

A black Buick sedan struck the Honda, and both drivers were taken to UMC, where the driver of the Honda, identified as male, was pronounced dead, Smaka said.

The driver of the Buick, identified as female, suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Traffic on the southbound side is getting by via the right-hand lane, and troopers expect to fully close that portion for about an hour for the investigation.
