Drunk driver sentenced for killing man on bus bench

A drunk driver convicted of hitting and killing a man at a bus stop will spend at least six years behind bars.

Rigoberto Tovar-Flores learned his fate Tuesday morning inside a Clark County courtroom.

The crash happened on July 29, 2018 at Washington and Pecos.

Police said Tovar-Flores slammed into a bus stop, killing Adrian Velasquez.

Judge Mary Kay Holthus handed down a sentence of six to fifteen years in prison.

Through an interpreter, Tovar-Flores told Judge Holthus he was remorseful and asked for forgiveness.

Velasquez’s family was inside the courtroom, but they did not speak during the hearing.
