'Her sweetness... her kindess:' Family remembers woman found dead near resort

Bailley Short was found dead at a south Las Vegas Boulevard resort on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018.

A 20-year old woman who once worked for Subway was found dead behind a south Las Vegas Strip resort.

The coroner identified the woman as Bailley Short.

Her family and friends say they have no idea why anyone would murder her.

Joei James raised Bailley Short at one time.

"Just her sweetness. Her kindness," James remembered of Bailley. "How she always wanted to help people. She was a really good girl."

James remembers a woman she viewed as family.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police say security guards found 20-year old Bailley Short's body early Wednesday morning outside a parking garage at Tahiti Village. Guests staying at the resort told security they heard a gunshot. Investigators found her body with a bullet wound.

"I was shocked," James said. "It was because I seen it on the news. You think that's horrible, but it is so different when you figure it's your people."

James tells News 3 Bailley lived a simple life. The 20-year old once worked for Subway.

"She was growing up. She was trying to find her way."

Police are looking at surveillance video taken from the resort, but they have not released a description on any suspects.

"That was a cold blooded murder, is what it was," James said. "I can't think of anything she would do that would be that bad for someone to do that to her."
