The FBI alleges a Las Vegas attorney pointed a gun at agents who came to his home, leading at least one of them to shoot and injure him Thursday.

A complaint filed in federal court alleges Matthew Beasley committed assault on a federal officer before he was shot by an FBI agent Thursday on Ruffian Road, near Ann Road and the 215 Beltway.

Three FBI agents went to Beasley's home Thursday afternoon "for an ongoing investigation," the complaint states. No details on that investigation are included in the report.

An agent rang a Ring doorbell, which appeared to have a camera, and the three walked through an unlocked gate and to the front doors, described as glass French doors.

Beasley was standing so that only half of his body was visible, according to the complaint. One agent showed Beasley his FBI badge, and Beasley then stepped into full view, where the agents could see him holding a gun pointed to his head.

One agent yelled, "easy, easy," and another yelled "drop the gun," the complaint states. Beasley then allegedly"pointed the gun at the agents in a sweeping motion, causing one or more agents to discharge their firearm, striking Beasley."

That led to a barricade situation at Beasley's home and he was ultimately taken to a hospital to receive medical attention, an FBI spokeswoman said Thursday.

The complaint was filed by a special agent assigned to the FBI Las Vegas Division Safe Streets Task Force, who works on "cases involving drugs, guns, gangs and violent crimes."

The agent wrote that he reviewed audio from negotiations and concluded that Beasley likely expected the FBI would be coming to his home.

"For instance, Beasley indicated that the FBI had already been to an associate's house and that he knew 'they,' in an apparent reference to the FBI, were coming to his house sooner or later," the complaint states.

No hearings are currently scheduled for the assault charge. It's unclear if an attorney is representing Beasley in that case.

The State Bar of Nevada lists Beasley as an active member since 2006 with no disciplinary actions. His practice, Beasley Law Group, PC, is listed with the same address as his home on Ruffian Road.

The website for his practice is no longer active, and nobody could be reached via a phone number included on the State Bar website.
