One dead after apartment fire near Sahara and Maryland Parkway
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
UPDATE, Aug. 7 | The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 26-year-old Myriam Hernandez Estrada.
She died from thermal injuries and inhalation of the products of combustion, according to the coroner's office. Her death has been officially ruled an accident.
ORIGINAL | An unidentified woman was found dead after an apartment fire on Karen Avenue, near Sahara Avenue and Maryland Parkway.
The two-alarm fire started around 3:30 p.m. in the eight-unit apartment. The roof of the apartment collapsed down to the second floor, and the building was a total loss.
The woman was found as fire crews searched through the rubble of the apartment after the fire was extinguished.
The complex, which is made up of wood frame apartments, has had multiple fires in the past.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown. No information about injuries, or how many people have been displaced, has been released.
On scene management was working with those residents that had been displaced in an effort to relocate them within the complex. The others will be managed by Red Cross but exact numbers were not available.
CCFD Investigators are on scene trying to determine an exact cause and dollar loss amount.
