Four sent to hospital after crash at Decatur and Penwood

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a Tuesday night crash that sent four people to UMC.

According, a Mercury Grand Marquis was speeding southbound on S. Decatur Boulevard when it ran a red light at Penwood Avenue. The Mercury collided with a Honda Civic in the intersection, then struck a pole.

One of the passengers of the Mercury, identified as 27-year-old Tiffany Simmons, suffered critical injuries from the crash. The driver of the Mercury, 27-year-old Anthony Gibbons, also suffered substantial injuries.

The driver of the Honda escaped with minor injuries, as did the second passenger of the Mercury.

Gibbons was for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol with substantial bodily harm.

The crash took place at 10:46 p.m., but Decatur was still closed in both directions into the early hours of Wednesday morning. The lanes have since re-opened.
