LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Vegas Golden Knights and Zappos on Monday announced a new partnership for the official sled hockey team.
Zappos will be the team’s presenting sponsor, according to a statement from the Golden Knights. The company would support the team financially and cover the costs of travel and equipment, and it would help with fundraisers.
Sled hockey is a sit-down version of the sport that accommodates players with disabilities who cannot play stand-up hockey.
“We are proud to partner with Zappos on this important initiative that promotes inclusivity in our game," Vegas Golden Knights President Kerry Bubolz said.
The sled team is scheduled to make its next appearance during an intermission at T-Mobile Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 14, when the Golden Knights take on the Anaheim Ducks.
The team will then head to Anaheim in January for a Pacific Division Tournament against the sled hockey teams of the Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, Arizona Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche. Another tournament would follow in Chicago in March against other NHL sled hockey teams.
