Some interesting research is underway at Death Valley National Park.

Scientists are placing GPS collars on bighorn sheep to watch their migration and study their genetics and diseases.

Park visitors in November and December may have noticed a helicopter carrying bighorn sheep in the area. That's because it was used to capture and transport 60 sheep to flat terrain so biologists could do their work safely.

The GPS collars will help produce the most accurate picture to date of the location movement and size of desert bighorn herds in Death Valley.
