LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — A former Las Vegas resident has become an internet celebrity.
Seemingly overnight, the boy named "Terry" has the eyes of the world on him all for holding a girl's hands.
Terry is a chimpanzee rescued from the now-closed Las Vegas zoo, and living in Florida at Save the Chimps rescue organization.
In a video taken a few weeks ago, viewers can see Terry the chimp holding hands with a chimp decades older than him. Her name: "Jeanie Mama."
Terry came to save the chimps sanctuary a few years back when the Las Vegas Zoo closed for good. Sanctuary staff say his Nevada gentlemen manners proved quickly he was charming.
Molly Polidoroff tells News 3: "We all know him to be a sweet gentleman he does prefer the ladies. He's a great guy. We were certainly surprised depth of affection with genie chimp he was introduced to."
Polidoroff says there's a lesson here, that chimps can teach us we all have deep emotional needs.
