LVMPD: Teens detained for fight, gun brought to Town Square; no shots fired Friday night

SATURDAY 1:20 P.M. UPDATE | Police detained several juveniles in what was a fight Friday night at Gameworks at Town Square that erupted into a social media scare about an "active shooter."

Photographs sent to News 3 by freelance photographer Tom Fairchild show two teens in handcuffs and what appears to be a weapon being handled by police.

Police said no shots were fired in the incident and there was never an active shooter, which was widely proclaimed on social media shortly after 9:10 p.m.

The situation began when two teens went inside Gameworks to fight, said Lt. Dave Sims of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. People inside Gameworks saw one teen had a gun, which started panic, Sims said.

The gun was found on the floor, he said.

Police detained the teen believed to have brought the gun , Sims said. Metro also detained several others, including friends of the teens who had planned to fight.

ORIGINAL STORY | The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fight that led to false reports of an active shooter at Town Square.

Police say the incident started out as a meetup fight.

One juvenile showed a gun at Gameworks starting the hysteria of a possible "active shooter."

LVMPD says it is not uncommon to receive false reports of shots fired when people see a gun.

According to police, the juveniles will face charges.

No injuries were reported during the incident
