Henderson Fire Department hiring new firefighters
HENDERSON, Nev. —
The Henderson Fire Department is accepting applications from those seeking a long-term career as a firefighter -- but only the first 1,800 applicants will be considered.
HDP is taking applications online at JoinHendersonFire.com until March 12, 2008. Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years old at the time of the written examination for Fire Fighter
- Valid Nevada or “border state” driver license (or obtain within 30 days of starting the fire academy)
- Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification by the time of the Chief’s interview
Applicants will be required to take a written exam, pass a Candidate Physical Ability Test, undergo a background investigation, pass drug and alcohol screening, and undergo psychological and medical examinations.
Firefighters make between $50,989.12 and $87,214.40 per year, and work 56 hours a week.
