Henderson house fire sends 71-year-old woman to hospital in serious condition

The Henderson Fire Department rescued a 71-year-old woman from a fire at a townhouse near Major Avenue and Buckholder Boulevard around 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to a medical assistance call at 2:40 a.m., but discovered the 2-story townhome was on fire. Four engines, one truck, three rescue units and an air resource apparatus responded to the fire.

Firefighters found the woman on the floorin the home. She was transported to St. Rose de Lima hospital in serious condition.

The fire was successfully contained to the woman's house, and no other buildings were damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No estimate of extent of the damage has yet been made.
