HENDERSON, Nev. (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Raiders may still be over a year and a half away, but the Apex Raiders of Henderson are making the valley proud.
The coed team of nine-and-ten-year-old kids made their way to Orlando to participate in the NFL FLAG Championships at the Pro Bowl. The team, coached by Omar Smith and Nathan Richmond, was made up of seven local players: Andrew Campbell, Justin Colin, Vincent Hales, Andrew Richmond, Michael Sims, Kory Villarreal and Jett Washington.
Wearing Raiders jerseys, the Apex team joined 71 other teams to play in the end-of-season tournament, and came out on top in their age division.
Teams were hosted by NFL teams including the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, and, of course, the Oakland (soon to be Las Vegas) Raiders.
All teams also attended the NFL Pro Bowl.
