Homicide investigation underway near Vegas Valley, Nellis

A man is dead after being shot and killed near Vegas Valley Drive and Nellis Boulevard.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 38-year-old Kevin Alexander Jr. The official cause of death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds and the manner was ruled a homicide.

The shooting took place just after 7 p.m. Monday night in the 4600 block of Vegas Valley Drive.

Lt. Grant Rogers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says a man was in his residence when a subject came in and shot him.

The victim then jumped from the second story balcony and was shot again.

The victim was transported to Sunrise hospital where he died of his injuries.

The suspect is described as a black man, 5'6 tall and weighs 140 pounds. He was also described as wearing body armor.

Police believe the shooting may have been narcotics related.
