ORIGINAL | Authorities are investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday morning just west of the Las Vegas Strip that left one man dead, according to a police official.

Police say the call came in as a shooting in an apartment complex located in the 4200 block of West Rochelle Avenue.

Responding officers found a man in the driver seat of a car with a gunshot wound.

Jacquelyn Sessoms works near where the shooting happened. She said the area is normally quiet.

“Wow, that is insane. Like, we never hear anything like that,” Sessoms said.

In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, police said investigators learned the victim arrived at the complex and parked his car. As he left the car, someone fired multiple rounds, hitting him.

A woman visiting Las Vegas told News 3 she’s concerned.

“Yes, it's pretty shocking to find out that's happened. It's scary because we are visitors,” the woman said.

Police say the shooter fled the scene.

No additional details were provided on a possible suspect description.
