Juvenile male arrested in shooting death of 16-year-old Aneas King
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
The North Las Vegas Police Department has arrested Allen Griffin for shooting and killing Aneas David King, 16, on Jan. 9 near Craig Road and Simmons Street.
Griffin, a suspected gang member, was identified after investigators uncovered information regarding a marijuana deal involving Griffin and someone King knew.
According to NLVPD, King accompanied this acquaintance to the drug deal at the corner of San Miguel Avenue and Coleman Street.
Aware of Griffin’s possible gang relations, King brought an airsoft gun to flash for protection should the deal go wrong.
During the deal, King’s acquaintance went back into his house to retrieve a scale and a phone, which is when Griffin allegedly shot King in his chest.
Griffin and a black male fled the scene.
King was transported to UMC Trauma where he later died.
Investigators found the airsoft gun at the scene, but the marijuana was not found.
Investigators were able to identify Griffin by his Facebook account, and confirmed his identity through a photo lineup.
Griffin is a juvenile and was placed under arrest for murder.
