Detectives have made an arrest in a Christmas Day homicide that dates back to 2007.

On Dec. 25, 2007, Anna Hammonds, 80 of Kingman, Ariz., was killed at her residence in the 4200 block of Irving Street.

Detectives suspected a neighbor, Edward Serrato, 48 of Kingman, was involved in the crime, but at the time did not have enough evidence for formal charges.

Because of continued work of investigators from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office and Mohave County Attorney’s Office, Serrato was formally charged on April 19 with the crimes of first-degree murder, first-degree armed burglary, arson of an occupied structure, attempted arson of an occupied structure and theft, all felonies.

Serrato is incarcerated in New Mexico Department of Corrections.
