LAS VEGAS, Nv (KSNV News3LV) — A 59-year-old woman who had her purse stolen at a local casino is speaking out about her scary ordeal. Metro Police say two young men ran up to the woman on Sunday night, grabbed her purse and ran off. Now, Metro detectives want the suspects caught.
It was supposed to be a fun-filled Sunday at Boulder Station Casino for Maria Reyes, but it quickly turned into a frightening situation as casino surveillance cameras caught two men robbing her.
"I was inside the casino playing. I went to eat some buffet. I was there for a while. I was sitting right near the exit and they grabbed my purse. I fell off my chair," said Reyes.
Reyes remembers casino security trying to chase down the purse snatchers, but the thieves were too quick. Reyes said she had $400 dollars in slot winnings inside her purse, but that's not what bothers her the most.
"I lost all my immigration papers what I had in my purse and now I'm worried because all my immigration documents are gone," said Reyes.
Reyes said she was looking forward to visiting a sick relative in Mexico for Easter. Now, the Las Vegas local has no immigration documents to make such a trip.
"I thought they could've pulled out a gun. I thought the worst. I began to tremble. I didn't know what to do," she said.
Metro police hope surveillance images from inside the casino lead to an arrest. Reyes is confident the purse snatchers will be caught.
If anyone has any information about the two men involved in the purse snatching crime you are urged to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
