Locals flock to Downtown Las Vegas for New Year's Eve
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
While it is mostly tourists who go to the strip for New Year's Eve, Downtown Las Vegas is more of a locals hotspot.
As we all know, on the Strip, it's 300,000 people from all over the world. But on Fremont Street, it's more like 40-50,000 of your best friends.
If you've never experienced a New Year's Eve on the Fremont Street Experience, it's definitely something you'll want to do.
It's a completely different atmosphere.
Among other things, locals say they appreciate the extra elbow room
“It's way safer down here,” said local reveler Cindy Robinson. “The Strip is just a lot more crowded -- people getting crazy -- just a lot more people down there. It's a different experience. Don't get me started, ‘cause I'm old now!”
We also talked with a number of visitors down here who think it's way better than the strip on New Year's Eve, but they asked us not to say anything about it on television because they don't want everyone on the strip to find out and come down here.
