LAS VEGAS — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Traffic Bureau along with the Northwest and Spring-Valley Area Commands will be conducting a “Sobriety Checkpoint” sponsored in part by a grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.
Officers from Southern Nevada will take part in this multi-jurisdictional event to focus on both the drug and/or alcohol impaired driver. Drug Recognition Expert Officers will be on scene to help evaluate drug impaired drivers.
The checkpoint will be held Sunday, February 3rd, 2019, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. The checkpoint will be located in the Northwest part of the Las Vegas valley. The checkpoint will identify drug and alcohol impaired drivers to include juveniles, young adults, and older adults, before they get involved in a collision, thereby increasing the safety for all Southern Nevada motorists.
This event symbolizes the commitment of southern Nevada law enforcement agencies toward reducing the number of DUI incidents and decreasing the number of impairment related traffic collisions as well as impairment related traffic fatalities.
