LVMPD: Woman dies after domestic dispute, suspect in custody
UPDATE, July 17 | The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 24-year-old Kimberly Olivia Johnson of Las Vegas.
According to the coroner's office, Johnson died from blunt force head trauma, and her death has been officially ruled a homicide.
ORIGINAL | A woman is dead and a man is behind after a domestic dispute took place at a Segal Suites near Nellis Boulevard and Craig Road.
On July 13, at 3 a.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan patrol officers responded to a weekly rental in the 5200 block of East Craig Road to investigate a domestic disturbance where a woman fell down a flight of stairs.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found an unresponsive woman who had a head wound.
The victim was transported to UMC where she later died.
Police say a man later identified as 24-year-old Dion Stanley was with the injured woman and taken into custody.
During the initial investigation, police say Stanley and the victim were in a dating relationship. A confrontation took place between the two on an outside walkway near a flight of stairs. During the incident, the victim went tumbling down the stairs.
As a result of the investigation, Stanly was arrested for one could of open murder and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
