Man accused of impersonating officer, coercing women into sex acts

Jesus Carvajal (Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department)

A 34-year-old man is accused of impersonating a police officer in order to coerce women into performing sex acts in downtown Las Vegas, according to police.

Jesus Cavajal was arrested Thursday, Aug. 9, on suspicion of several counts of sexual assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and impersonating a public officer.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that since late June, detectives got four reports of a man posing as an officer to coerce them into sex acts. The victims said he had a badge, gun, handcuffs, knife and radio.

Investigators identified Carvajal as a suspect, saying he would allegedly approach victims downtown, according to LVMPD. If they got into his car or talked about a price for sex acts, he would identify himself as an undercover officer.

He would then threaten the victims with arrest if they did not perform sex acts, authorities allege.

Detectives believe there could be more victims, and anyone with information is asked to contact LVMPD's gang/vice bureau at (702) 828-3455 or Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
