Ryan's cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound of the back and the death was ruled a homicide.

The preliminary investigation by North Las Vegas police indicated that Ryan man had entered the store and was attempting to rob the clerk prior to being shot. An armed citizen who was in the store working at the time, saw an armed robbery taking place and discharged his firearm into the suspect. The suspect fled the store and was located by officers shortly after.

Detectives said there are any other persons involved in the incident and are not searching for any outstanding subjects. The citizen cooperated with police.

Detectives believe the deceased male may have been responsible for a recent series of robberies in the area.
