Las Vegas (KSNV) — Las Vegas is back in business.
On Tuesday, numbers from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) reported that the valley welcomed 38.8 million visitors in 2022, a 20.5 percent boost from 2021.
Officials with the LVCVA say these numbers are nearing pre-pandemic levels, as this was the first full year since 2019 when no COVID restrictions or cancellations were in place for major events.
It was also the first full calendar year for tradeshows and meetings, which hosted nearly 5 million attendees. This was more than double the 2.2 million attendees reported in 2021.

Hotel occupancy for the whole year reached a strong 79 percent, with weekend occupancy at 89 percent and midweek occupancy at 75 percent.
According to the LVCVA, Las Vegas leads the nation in overall hotel occupancy, which averages 63 percent.
Major sporting events such as the NHL All-Star Game in February and NFL Draft in April boosted travel to Las Vegas during the year.
A strong travel boost is anticipated for 2023 with the opening of Fontainebleau Las Vegas and the MSG Sphere, as well as the hosting of major events like the L’Etape by Tour de France in May and the inaugural Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix in November.
