The Neon Museum and UNLV have each received federal grants of $10,000 for programs this year.

The National Endowment for the Arts announced this week it would award grants totaling $90,000 to seven arts organizations and agencies in the state, according to the Nevada Arts Council.

The grant for the Neon Museum will benefit the Artist in Residence program, while UNLV's grant will go toward the publication of "The Believer" magazine.

Organizations in Northern Nevada also received grants, including the Sierra Nevada Ballet, Nevada Museum of Art and Carson City Arts Initiative.

"These awards will allow thousands of Nevadans to experience the excellence in the arts that our cultural institutions have to offer," Tony Manfredi, executive director of the Nevada Arts Council, said in a statement.
