New playground in place for hundreds of children in the valley
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
More than 200 volunteers got together Saturday, Oct. 20, to build the playground in just six hours.
A ribbon-cutting finalized the play area at Futuro Academy Public Charter School, located at 920 N. Lamb Boulevard.
The community event surrounding the new playground was organized by the Smile Generation and KaBOOM!, a non-profit organization.
The goal is to help children develop social skills while staying healthy and, of course, having fun.
Katrina Bitanga, project manager for KaBOOM!, said, "I think what's really unique about this project is it's bringing together so many incredible partners in play, and for the course of six hours community members who might not have met each other get to do something incredible together, which is build the brand new safe playground for the kids here at Futuro Academy."
Children and adults also received free dental care through donated services at the new playground.
