NLVPD still determining cause of fatal bus at Las Vegas Boulevard, Civic Center

Police say woman in a wheel chair was hit and killed by a bus near the intersection of Las Vegas Blvd. & Civic Center.

UPDATE, Feb. 11 | The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the woman killed as 24-year-old Breeona Olsteen of Las Vegas.

According to the coroner's office, Olsteen died from multiple blunt force injuries, and the manner of death has been officially ruled an accident.

SUNDAY 9:10 A.M. UPDATE | The preliminary investigation indicated the RTC bus was traveling southbound on North Las Vegas Boulevard in the dedicated bus lane while the female pedestrian was traveling northbound on Civic Center in a motorized wheelchair.

It appeared the pedestrian was traveling in the crosswalk but investigators will determine who was at fault through witness testimony, surveillance video, and evidence at the scene.

At this time, Investigators do not believe impairment was a factor in this crash, according to a North Las Vegas Police Department news release.

The Clark County coroner's office will release the identity, and cause and manner of death after relatives have been notified.

ORIGINAL | The North Las Vegas Police Department is investigating a fatal crash, Saturday evening.

According to NLVPD's Twitter page, the crash took place on North Las Vegas Boulevard and Civic Center Drive.

According to Officer Leavitt with NLVPD, just after 6 p.m., a woman operating a motorized wheelchair when she was hit by a RTC bus as she was crossing the street.

The woman died at the scene.

Officer Leavitt says the woman was in the crosswalk when she was hit by the bus.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
