HENDERSON, Nev. — Officials are investigating a single-engine plane crash south of Henderson Executive Airport.
According to Kathleen Richards with the Henderson Fire Department, the crash was reported just after 12 p.m. on Monday, about a quarter mile south of the airfield.
Christine Crews with McCarran International Airport says the aircraft was a vintage plane, known as a BAC-167 Strikemaster jet.
The United States Air Force has provided an update on the crash, stating that the plane was being operated by a military contractor called "Blue Air Training." The pilot was headed to Washington State at the time to provide close air support for training.
There were no reported injuries in the crash, which only had one person on board at the time.
According to a representative with the FAA, the jet crashed under unknown circumstances right after taking off from Henderson Executive Airport and two FAA inspectors were en route to the crash site.
Flames were reported after the crash, so Henderson Fire assisted with water efforts.
