North Las Vegas celebrates construction of Sephora distribution center

Officials with the city of North Las Vegas are celebrating a major accomplishment.

Construction crews are currently hard at work, laying the groundwork for a new fulfillment center and distribution facility for cosmetics giant Sephora.

The 714,000-square-foot building will be part of an 120-acre masterplan industrial park, which also includes Amazon’s second facility.

Officials with the city of North Las Vegas say executives looked at locations throughout the west and, after a yearlong search, selected Nevada for the center.

The doors are set to open in May 2019 and with it will come around 400 new jobs. The company intends to fill nearly all positions with Nevada residents, including disabled and veteran workers.

"There was a time in the valley where unemployment was a really big deal. We are glad to have multiple opportunities now for people to find employment; maybe they can find their perfect job. But also what is great for residents is it's a tax base that helps increase our libraries, our parks, our police and fire," said Ryann Juden, North Las Vegas city manager.

Developments in North Las Vegas don’t stop here.

City planners say more large-scale groundbreaking ceremonies are planned this month alone.

News 3 will keep you posted on the developments — and the jobs they'll soon bring.
