Officer involved in shooting a shovel-wielding woman near Nellis and Desert Inn identified

The officer involved in shooting a shovel-wielding woman on May 12 has been identified as Officer Ondre Wills.

The shooting took place in the 3400 block of Big Sur Drive near Nellis Boulevard and Desert Inn Road.

Officer Wills is 23-years-old and has been employed with the LVMPD since May 2016.

Officer Wills is assigned to the Community Policing Division, Southeast Area Command. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident.

The incident was the sixth officer-involved shooting for 2018. Per LVMPD policy, the identities of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours.
