The Clark County Fire Department responded just before 4 p.m. to a fire inside a building at 3855 S. Valley View boulevard, near Twain Avenue.

On arrival crews reported heavy smoke coming from an auto repair shop at that address.

Crews initially fought the fire from outside, and then moved into the interior of the business.

Jeff Jones, a witness says he and a friend were painting when they heard a loud bang.

"People started screaming just running everywhere throughout here," Jones said.

Jones says he ran across the parking lot towards a building that was on fire. He says he saw heavy smoke.

"We ran over here and we lifted up this door," Jones described. "The adrenaline just kicked in when they said somebody was in there so we just ran over."

There were reports of people trapped inside, and on entering the building, firefighters found one adult who was transported to UMC.

Jones recorded on his cell phone the dramatic moments immediately after fire fighters rescued that person.

“Brought them out to the street, and they did CPR for a while, then eventually they got him on a bed,” Jones said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
