Palm Mortuary continues Easter Service tradition for 32nd year
LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) —
In Las Vegas, as it has for the past 32 years, Easter Sunday means a celebration at Palm Mortuary.
“The line used to go way back, there was about four or five thousand,” said Charlotte Richards, who has attended every service for the past 32 years. “Now there are two thousand and that’s OK, There's still a God, and they come because this is the resurrection moment.”
Richards says her visit is deeply religious as it is Resurrection Day.
“It should arise something in our hearts to of love and kindness and peace, and that's what I’m about too,” she said.
Peace is a word said here often at a time when the world seems to be lacking in it. The hearts and minds here are far away from war.
“With what’s going on in the world, today it’s nice to look out and see the community and camraderie and all faiths coming together in this time of year,” she said.
The free, family-friendly event featured an inspirational message, a ceremonial release of doves, live musical selections from the Desert Chorale, Larry Walker and various local artists, complimentary continental breakfast, and a special appearance by the Easter Bunny.
