Pedestrian struck, critically injured by car on northeast valley

A woman was taken to a hospital with critical injuries after she was hit by a car Tuesday night in the northeast valley, according to authorities.

Two people were crossing E. Lake Mead Boulevard outside of a crosswalk east of N. Lincoln Road just before 10 p.m., said Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

A 2013 Hyundai Elantra was heading west on Lake Mead, and the driver swerved to avoid one pedestrian but struck the other, police say.

The pedestrian struck by the car was taken to UMC in critical condition. The driver of the Hyundai stayed at the scene, and she did not show any signs of impairment, according to authorities.
