Arrest made in fatal stabbing near Bermuda, Sunset; victim identified
UPDATE DEC. 6 | LVMPD have identified and arrested 32-year-old Sheyland Barnett in connection to the stabbing on Bermuda Road.
The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Las Vegas resident Galean Simon. He died of multiple stab wounds and the Clark County coroner ruled his death a homicide.
Homicide detectives responded to the incident and learned that the male victim and Barnett had become involved in a fight.
During the altercation, Barnett stabbed the man and stabbed the woman when she tried to break up the fight.
Barnett then left the area prior to officers arrival and transported himself to Henderson Hospital with a stab wound of his own.
Detectives later responded to the hospital and determined his wound as self-inflicted during the fight.
Barnett was arrested for one count of murder with a deadly weapon and is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.
ORIGINAL| The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal stabbing near Bermuda Road and East Sunset Road.
Police received the call just before 5 p.m. in the 6800 block of Bermuda Road.
When police arrived at the scene, they found two people suffering from stab wounds.
Both victim were transported to the hospital. One of those victims later died.
According to police, a was woman being threatened called a family member to walk her to her car. That family member was killed when the man threatening her showed up.
Another was stabbed trying to break it the situation.
No other details have been given.
