LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — In conjunction with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' "Week of Action", animal activists are getting set to gather to protest the extra cost of dairy-free milk options at Starbucks locations nationwide.
"Soy and nut milk shouldn't cost a cent more than their dairy counterparts, which are cruel to cows, contribute to climate change, and are indigestible to many humans," said Tracy Reiman, an executive vice president for the nonprofit.
The nonprofit has a history of high-publicity events in an effort to advocate changes in animal cruelty laws, removing "ag-gag" laws, and place immense social pressure on companies deemed not environmentally-friendly or ethical.
"PETA is upping the pressure on Starbucks to wake up and smell the coffee: It's time for the unfair surcharge to end," added Reiman.
