Poles being replaced, but power restored in two east valley areas hit by storms
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
Although some power poles are still being replaced, power to two east valley areas hit hard by storms late in the week has been restored.
NV Energy spokeswoman Jennifer Schuricht said crews were working Sunday to replace several poles that came down on Boulder Highway between Russell and Sunset roads.
There were 31 poles taken down by high winds and crews have been working around the clock to get them replaced since the Thursday evening storm.
One pole also needed to be replaced in the Green Valley Parkway-Sunset Road area that was hit on Friday evening. Six poles were toppled by high winds in the storm.
"We re-routed the power so all customers were back on, but crews are still working on getting the poles in place," Schuricht told News 3 on Sunday.
The Nevada Department of Transportation said northbound Boulder Highway in the area would be closed for three days, but the roadway is not on the NDOT closure list on the website as of 11:45 a.m. Sunday.
