Police: Off-duty security guard shoots and kills man in alley near Sahara, Paradise
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
UPDATE, July 20 | Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have released more details on Thursday's deadly shooting in a motel parking lot.
According to a statement issued Friday, police say video surveillance captured the victim standing in the parking lot.
The victim could be seen speaking with the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Spencer Trevathan, who was standing on the motel's second-floor walkway.
Police say Trevathan walked down to the parking lot and got into a fight with the victim, during which he pulled out a gun and shot the victim. No other details were immediately released.
Officers arrested Trevathan, and he faces a charge of murder with a deadly weapon. The victim's identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
ORIGINAL | Homicide detectives are responding to a fatal shooting in an alley just off the Las Vegas Strip.
A man was shot about 12:45 p.m. behind a Subway and McDonald's at 2235 Las Vegas Boulevard South.
The shooter called 911 to report the shooting. He was apparently shot by an off-duty security guard.
"He was transported to UMC and died," said Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Officer Jay Rivera. "The shooter is in custody."
Two men were involved in an argument when one pulled out a gun and fired, said a homicide detective.
