LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — UPDATE, Nov. 20 | A photo has been released by LVMPD of the vehicle the suspect got into after the shooting.
It is described as a newer white Mercedes 4-door sedan.
Detectives believe that the victim was targeted, and the shooting was in retaliation to a previous altercation.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned, black adult male.
The suspect ran up behind the victim and the victim's girlfriend and fired a gun.
The victim was struck and laid on the ground, at which point the suspect stood over him and shot him several more times.
The suspect fled on foot and then got into the white Mercedes.
When officers arrived, they found the victim's girlfriend rendering first aid.
UPDATE, Nov. 6 | The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed as 20-year-old Jeremy Seals.
He died from multiple gunshot wounds, and the manner of death has officially been ruled a homicide, according to the coroner's office.
ORIGINAL | Police are investigating a fatal shooting in an area west of downtown reported about 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police have stopped traffic in the area of West Lake Mead Boulevard and J Street as officers search for a possible shooter.
The shooting scene was reported in the 900 block of West Lake Mead, said Lt. Chris Holmes of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
As of 1:15 p.m. the suspect was outstanding, Holmes confirmed.
The victim died a short time later at a hospital.
Homicide detectives are responding to the scene.
