Police on the hunt for man who robbed local Circle K at gunpoint
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
A Circle K robber was caught clearly on surveillance threatening a clerk with a gun.
The robbery occurred in a very busy spot just nearby the Stratosphere.
Clear surveillance images taken from a Circle K just outside the Stratosphere on New Year's Day show an armed robber demanding money. The robbery happened near Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara.
The cameras catch the initial moment the thief raised his gun towards the store clerk. Luckily, that employee was not hurt, but police do say the robber made off with some things.
Dee Jones is a Circle K customer.
"I think it's horrible that somebody would go inside the store and commit a kind of act like that. In this area, there seems to be a lot of poverty going on," said Jones.
Jones is occasionally at this Circle K gassing up his car or buying snacks. He tells us this robbery is more troubling since it happened in an area known to have a high volume of people.
"You just want to basically push forward to try to get out of the areas that are more rough to people," said Jones.
LVMPD robbery detectives describe the thief as a white man in his twenties. He stands about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 and has an average build.
Gladys Rowe is a routine customer at this Circle K. She hopes this man is caught soon.
"It's very important because someone else can get hurt or even killed as a result," said Rowe. "They might try and rob another business or even another person."
