Project Neon 'Main Event' will bring several changes in construction zone
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
If you travel through the ongoing roadwork for Project Neon, prepare for some changes this week.
The Nevada Department of Transportation's third and final major phase of work for Project Neon a nearly $1 billion 4-mile-long widening of Interstate 15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue is nicknamed "The Main Event" since it's the last and most impactful portion of construction.
In addition to road/lane changes and ramp closures, six of the stadium-sized video boards will be activated this week to give motorists lane-specific information in an effort to ease traffic flow. The signs were installed during earlier construction and were being tested last week. Eventually, there will be 42 electronic signs erected along U.S. 95 and Interstate 15 before construction concludes in July 2019, says NDOT.
