Several parks in Boulder City are dealing with graffiti and vandalism in recent days, including one park that's been hit multiple times.

The city said on July 19 that tags were found at Oasis, Veterans Memorial and Xeriscape parks, the multi-use building and around the splash pad.

Vandalism was reported against Oasis Park, the city said on July 20.

Staff members have spent hours trying to remove it, using power washers and sandblasters, and some portions have to be repainted.

"It's disrespectful to the residents for the fact that we pay ... taxpayers' dollars are what we fund our city from. Not only the employees that work here, but all the nice amenities that we have in our parks," said Julie Calloway with Boulder City's parks and recreation department. "One of our taglines is 'Clean, Green, Boulder City.' And it’s unfortunate that there’s been a run of incidents where that hasn't been the case."

Calloway said the city will close public restrooms earlier, have police patrol the area and install security cameras. Visitors are asked to be patient.
