Sisolak urges sign ups for health coverage as last call for open enrollment arrives
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
Uninsured Nevadans now have less than 48 hours to get insured. Open enrollment ends Saturday, Dec. 15, at midnight.
On Friday, Gov.-elect Steve Sisolak joined representatives from the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange to talk about the importance of getting insurance.
Sisolak is pushing the state’s health insurance marketplace, Nevada Health Link, where Nevadans can shop for a plan that fits their needs.
He said he especially hopes younger Nevadans are signing up and that he learned the importance of insurance the hard way.
“I slipped through the cracks," Sisolak said. "When I was younger, I had appendicitis when I didn’t have healthcare coverage and had to have it removed, and was paying for years to get the coverage. You don’t think about that sort of thing when you are a millennial... but things happen."
