Smith's grocery store to create 270 jobs in Henderson

Saving Money At The Grocery Store

The new 482,000 square-foot distribution facility will provide more than 8,000 items allowing the grocer to ship products to Smith’s stores in the Southwest United States including 44 in Nevada.

This is the first food distribution center for Smith’s located in the state of Nevada with a projection to provide nearly 270 new jobs.

With the assistance of Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance and partnership with the City of Henderson, Smith’s Food & Drug Stores plans to open a nearly $13.5 million dry-good distribution center in Henderson, Nevada.

Smith’s Food & Drug will move forward with completion of the project due to the tax incentives approved by the Board of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

“We are thrilled that Smith’s, a leader in its industry, has chosen Southern Nevada as its expansion location for a new distribution center,” said LVGEA Chief Operating Officer Jared Smith. “Southern Nevada’s business-friendly environment, low cost of doing business and access to 61 million people in one day’s drive prove our area is an ideal place for logistics operations to grow and thrive. Smith’s strategic decision to expand in our market speaks volumes about the strengths of our community and the benefits we offer.”
