Speed, driving under the influence factors in fatal west valley crash
LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) —
1:20 P.M. SATURDAY UPDATE:
The woman killed was driving a 2005 Dodge Caravan. She has been identified as 55-year-old Kathleen Dolan. No residence is available.
The driver of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado was 30-year-old Alfredo Vazquez-Orozco of Las Vegas. He has been charged with DUI involving death.
The death was the 73rd traffic-related fatality in LVMPD jurisdiction this year.
Excessive speed and driving under the influence appear to be factors in a west valley crash that killed a woman early Saturday.
The crash occurred about 4:45 a.m. at South Jones Boulevard and West Hacienda Avenue, according to Lt. Carlos Hank of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
He said two vehicles collided in the intersection. One had been traveling at a much higher rate of speed than the other.
One vehicle was a 2005 Dodge Caravan and the other was a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.
A woman driving one vehicle was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. She has since died.
The other driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
The intersection at South Jones Boulevard and West Hacienda Avenue was closed for several hours for the investigation, but has since been reopened.
