A violent fight between two Silver Nugget employees turned deadly Thursday morning.

North Las Vegas police say one man died inside the casino and the other man involved was killed by North Las Vegas police.

The entire incident happened at the Silver Nugget Casino on Las Vegas Boulevard and Bruce just after 5:45 a.m.

The violent altercation happened right in front of other casino workers and patrons.

"Further, calls gave us information that there was possibly a person being killed at the Silver Nugget Casino," said spokesperson Ann Cavaricci, with the North Las Vegas Police.

Officers say they found the possible homicide suspect in the casino's back parking lot.

"While they were there, they contacted a possible suspect. During that contact with the suspect one of our officers discharged a firearm striking that suspect," said Cavaricci.

Family members identified the man police shot as Jeremias Cruz who was a security guard for the casino. Family members also tell us, Cruz was a father of four and had another child on the way. What sparked the fight is still unknown.

"Our detectives are interviewing witnesses. This casino is open 24 hours a day, so there are several employees we are speaking with right now," said Cavaricci.

North Las Vegas police did not say how many casino-goers witnessed the homicide, but the ones who talked to us say they were very upset about the deadly incident.

"It makes me want to go somewhere else because if they're having that activity here that makes me feel there's a lot of illegal things going on," said casino patron, Mark Jones.
