Suspect in custody after hours-long barricade in northeast valley

4:05 P.M. UPDATE| The suspect has been taken into custody without incident, according to LVMPD.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing, and roads in the area have been cleared.

3:35 P.M. UPDATE| According to an LVMPD release, the barricade was initiated when officers responded to a deomstic incident at 11:34 a.m.

The barricade is ongoing, and residents are advised to avoid the area.

2:50 P.M. UPDATE| Police are evacuating several residences in the area. The SWAT unit has arrived to take over handling of the incident.

ORIGINAL | The SWAT team of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is responding to a barricade event in the far northeast valley for a "suicidal" subject who may have hostages.

The situation has been going on for a few hours in the 2100 block of Exeter Drive, near East Lake Mead and North Hollywood boulevards.

"They have been treating it as a barricade and SWAT is responding now," Officer Aiden OcampoGomez told News 3 about 2:05 p.m.. "It's possible there are hostages inside with the subject.

Streets in the area are likely to be closed off and some evacuations may have taken place, OcampoGomez said.

Motorists should avoid the area.
