A preliminary investigation showed a white Ducati motorcycle traveling southbound on Stephanie Street approaching American Pacific Drive behind several cars when the traffic light turned into a sold red light at the intersection.
The motorcycle moved into a right-turn-only lane to pass the stopped traffic, entered the intersection against the red light, and collided with a white Isuzu PGR box truck turning left on a green arrow from northbound Stephanie Street onto westbound American Pacific Drive.
Impairment on behalf of the box truck driver does not appear to be a factor, however, speed is considered a factor in the incident.
North Stephanie Street and American Pacific Drive were closed in all directions for a couple of hours as police investigated but have since reopened as of 1 p.m.
The collision is being investigated as the seventh accident-related fatality for 2022.
